Bel-Air released the first trailer for their upcoming Bel Air season 2. It will air on Peacock from February 23rd, 2023.
Bel-Air is a reimagined version of Will Smith’s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It features many original characters and was a hit with viewers in its first season.
Season two of Jabari’s story will follow Will as he confronts inner conflict after a new person appears in his life. This causes him to question the lessons he learned from season one. The second season will continue the exploration of Will and Carlton (Olly Sholotan’s) brotherhood.
Collider was told by Carla Banks Waddles, showrunner, that season two will not only push the boundaries of the story but also honor “the heart” of the legacy series.
Waddles stated that “Last year was all about the introduction to Banks’ family world. This season, we get to explore some of the themes — what it really means to be a parent, even when it is difficult.” How do you restore trust in a family? How can you discover your own path, your individualism within a family?
Waddles said, “We’ll also examine Will’s character beyond feeling as if he’s a fish out the water.” He is now trying to balance his West Philly identity and independence with being open to new possibilities in Bel-Air.
Many cast members will be returning for the second season, including Adrian Holmes (Phillip Banks), Cassandra Freeman(Vivian Banks), Coco Johnson (Hilary Banks), Akira Akbar [Ashley Banks] and Jimmy Akingbola (Geoffrey Thompson).
Will Smith’s latest movie Emanicaption will premiere on Apple TV+ next month. After Smith’s Oscars slap controversy, director Antoine Fuqua defended the movie’s release. This is Smith’s first film since the incident.
Fuqua stated that “Isn’t 400 years of slavery and brutality more important than one bad minute?”
“We were in Hollywood and there have been some really horrible things that have happened and we’ve seen many people receive awards for doing some really awful things.”
