What is the worst thing about eating fast food? It’s not the way you feel after eating at a fast food restaurant. It’s like wrestling with those dang Ketchup Packet that are difficult to open, hold too little and end up all over your lap.
The new Heinz “Dip & Squeeze”, the first major redesign of the original ketchup packet, is about to change all that.
The name implies that you have two options: you can squeeze the ketchup the traditional way or you can peel the top off and dip your fries in the new bottle-shaped packet. It is supposed to hold three times as much ketchup than the old packets.
Chick-fil-A, Dairy Queen, and other chains began using the packets earlier in the year. More restaurants, such as Wendy’s and Wendy’s are on the horizon. McDonald’s and Burger King have been testing the packets, but they have not yet made a decision.
How did Heinz invent the Dip and Squeeze packet idea?
Why the redesign? Simple economics. Although the new packets were expensive to create, Heinz felt that people weren’t eating drive-thrus fries because they had so much trouble with the old ketchup packets.
There’s no reason to skip eating vegetables.
Better coffee. Every year, Dunkin’ Donuts sells over a billion cups coffees. Most of these end up in landfills, or worse, your front yard. These non-biodegradable foam cups pose a significant pollutant and a serious threat to the urban environment.
Double D is adamant that it recognizes this and is determined to change it. Dunkin’s new sustainability report states that its top priority is to find an environmentally-friendly coffee cup.
It’s not difficult! You can make coffee cups out of recycled paper. Wrong. It is wrong.
Starbucks, the arch-rival, is still a long way ahead. It has used a paper cup with 10% recycled fiber for five years. The cup also comes with a cup sleeve made from recycled material to keep fingers safe. Tongues are a different story.
