The filmic remake of the Stephen King novel It was hailed as “a horror triumphand the best King adaptation in many years”. It’s now available on Netflix, so go to if it isn’t already It Chapter 2 dealt the rest of the book. The children’s adult selves returned home to confront the terror again. They looked nothing like the child actors they replaced. We have our opinion on casting decisions.
1. Bill Denbrough
Jaeden Martell, actor, played the leader in the self-titled Loser’s Club. This brought Bill Denbrough to life with It. James McAvoy took over the role in It Chapter Two and transformed his Scottish accent into a Derry accent.
Many commentators suggested Jake Gyllenhaal’s face was the most suitable for this role. But McAvoy is still an incredibly believable older version.
2. Eddie Kaspbrak
Jack Dylan Grazer ( Shzam!) was the sickly child that finally stood up against his mother in the first film. James Ransone then took over from him.
Ransone, who played Michael O’Connor on the TV series MOSAIC but is most well-known as Chester ‘Ziggy’ Sobotka on . While Ransone doesn’t have Grazer’s chin, he looks just like the brave Kaspbrak that he will be. You can’t call him Eds.
3. Beverly Marsh
Since the first announcement of It‘s movie version, consensus was that Jessica Chastain should portray Beverly Marsh in the older version.
Director Andres Muschietti clearly understood this, and Chastain was one of the first to announce the new cast. Chastain had to add some freckles to match Sophia Lillis’ younger actress, but she is spot on.
4. Richie Tozier
Finn Wolfhard did an incredible job in bringing Richie “trashmouth”, Tozier’s younger self to life. The casting news that excited us for Chapter 2 was that Bill Hader would continue that legacy.
The Saturday Night Live regular, creator of the hitman comedy Barry, shared the same wacky antics as his younger counterpart.
5. Stan Uris
Stan (Wyatt Oleff, in the first film), was an important member of the Losers Club. He helped fight It in the sewers despite being afraid.
Andy Bean was also a key part of bringing back the terror of Derry survivors in the future.
6. Ben Hanscom
Stan (Wyatt Oleff, in the first film), was an important member of the Losers Club. He helped fight It in the sewers despite being afraid.
Andy Bean was also a key part of bringing back the terror of Derry survivors in the future.
6. Ben Hanscom
Physical appearance is not an issue when playing the role of Ben – “I get everything fit and stuff,” said young actor Jeremy Ray Taylor, speaking about the older Hanscom.
This buffer, slimmer role is one man fans will recognize as Jay Ryan, who headed to Derry as the older Ben.
7. Mike Hanlon
Although Mike the older was confirmed as a role, Chosen Jacobs revealed that Shadowhunters star Isaiah Mustafa aka Old Spice Guy would play the adult version in Chapter2.
Although it’s not Black Panther star Chadwick Boleman (who Chosen has previously stated that he would like to play the role), we believe Isaiah’s casting is sound.
