In the final episode of season 5 of Lucifer, “Partners’ Til The End” Rory is rescued from Vincent Le Mec (Rob Benedict) by the Devil. Le Mec had planned to murder the Devil however, Lucifer intervened to stop Rory from taking him down and turning into her own version of Devil (complete including Lucifer’s appearance). But Lucifer’s kidnapping and saving from Rory was the reason the reason he disappears from Rory’s future. Throughout Lucifer season 6 we learn that he was unintentionally helping hell’s prisoners to get to Heaven as well as helping the soul of Dan get to Heaven was a way to bring redemption to Lucifer.
