Power Book II: Ghost season 2 brings back the character of the classic power Character Council Member Rashad Tate who is which is played by Larenz Tate brother, ahead of the spinoff of his series the Power Book V Influence.
However, his return to television would not be complete without his on-and-off screen sibling Lahmard Tate. Tate is the cop Kamaal Tate in the show.
Exclusively speaking to , Larenz Tate discusses the reasons why Larenz Tate’s twin brother Lahmard joining the team of the show Power is among his “favourite things about working on Ghost second season.”
“I love all actors, all of them as well as the creators, directors, writers and producers, everything else but my brother, my real-life brother, who is my screen brother is amazing.
“We’re business partners and we’re doing a lot of work behind the scenes, including producing , and all that great things. However, to be on camera and feed off our mutual respect and portray characters who are completely different from the people we are and then to establish a brotherly relationship in which it’s seamless. So, we’re in a position to bring the same energy that we share as brothers energy that is to be just right. I’m glad that Lahmard is an integral part of that and also kicks a s**t in this show.
“I’m not just gushing about my brother I’m saying he’s real as… He is able to appear to be a problem You are aware of what I’m talking about. We discuss this competitive thing. He’s a vicious a** man. I’m just happy that I could be able to share the screen alongside him.”
Menace II Society Menace II Society star then explained the process by which Showrunner Courtney Kemp came up with the idea of giving Rashad an older brother in the first power series.
“Courtney Kemp, one of the producers on the series in her interview, she mentioned in the Power“, she said, “Hey I’m going introduce an uncle, or a family member’. When she says”Well what you believe should have been your brother? She can’t make it clear.
“And I thought “Lahmard Tate, Lahmard Tate, Lahmard Tate, he’s actually my brother’. She said, ‘Done. You don’t have to repeat it.’ She was thinking”Wait, a second… obviously you’re your real brother’. “The Love Jones actor later apologized for those who been attempting to audition for the part of Kamaal and said, “Whoever was up for the role of Kamaal Hey it’s a shame. That’s what I’m saying. We’re sticking with the home team, are you kidding me? We stick along with home as often as we can.
“And I’ve not always been that way. I’ve always been whoever gets to play the role, it’s perfect. But in this case I told you I was looking for it. I was looking for that brotherhood I wanted that authenticity, in the real. They were able to keep it going through the Ghost season 2. Also, Lahmard is here and is playing the role of Kamaal.”
Although it’s the first time that fans have seen Lahmard on the screen as a character, he was also in Barbershop, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G and the parody film of the Wayans brothers Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, just to mention some.
