Never intentionally un-silly The resurrected FOX series concluded its fifth season in a totally shocking finalecalled ‘ Behind the Eyes” in May 2017, with two shocking plot twists and a happy end in the case of Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller). What was the fate of Prison Break season 6 ? Will it get a chance to shine?
However, just one year after that, it was discovered that there was a “new version” was being developed.
Prison Break season 6: What’s happening?
In January of 2018, FOX officially confirmed that they were ” developing a new version” in Prison Break. “It’s at the very beginning of development” stated entertainment director Michael Thorn. “But we’re very enthusiastic about the project.”
Miller himself indicated an desire to revisit his character in the proper conditions: “There’s always room for more in my opinion. If there’s a compelling story worthy of telling, as long as it’s justified and interesting and fun.
“It must be something that won’t make fans feel disappointed which will please and delight. I’m willing to talk about it.”
However, when the initial excitement surrounding this reboot, sorry “reiteration” – waned the situation began to spiral into trouble pretty quickly.
Creator Paul Scheuring left the project and stated that in spite of “desire… by people who love the show… along with a few actor” Scheuring “couldn’t provide a new story about this particular group of people”.
“Maybe someone else could,” he added. “Or through chance, I’ll think of another escape from prison that’s fresh and innovative, however, I’d bet against it.”

The latest version of the show was initially endorsed by FOX CEO Dana Walden, however his successor seemed to be much less enthusiastic.
After the merger of the network together with Disney in February of 2019 The newly appointed Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier declared: “There’s no plan right this moment of reviving Prison Break or any other franchise however, when the creators have a story they believe is the best moment to tell, we’re willing to listen as there are several franchises for which I’m satisfied and am so grateful to be part of our stable.
In August 2019, it was clear that the plot had completely stopped in those in the Prison Break writers in their room making an announcement that read: “Nothing is ever dead (remember the time Sara was killed? ) However, for the moment the long-awaited season six isn’t in the cards.”
However, in 2020 the the actor Dominic Purcell (who plays Lincoln in the show) spoke out about his hopes for a sixth season discussing why his experience with the coronavirus pandemic triggered the door to a “steely resolve” within him to see it produced.
“We are all of us in agreement that if the idea is worth telling, it will be done,” he said.
“I’m extremely optimistic about #socialdistancing and an unwavering respect for the opinions of experts regarding the best way to fight this devastating, unprecedented event. we’ll all triumph over the #coronavirus virus – organizations like Netflix are in desperate need of new content” said the expert.
Purcell added another Instagram post ( since deleted) which added fuel to the Prison Break flame: “Will season pb 6 occur. Yes…..”
Prison Break Season 6 lineup: Who will play?
“If there is a good storyline that happens to come up, I am certain that the group will return to repeat the feat,” said Vaun Wilmott in a statement that suggested that any main person who was alive after the conclusion of the most recent mini-series might return.
We’re aware that it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see Miller in the future However, there are many other favorites that could be in the mix, including:
* Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows)
* Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note)
* Robert Knepper (T-Bag)
* Amaury Nolasco (Sucre)
* Inbar Lavi (Sheba)
Sarah Wayne Callies could also come back as Sara Tancredi Scofield.
Mike Jr would be part of any subsequent iteration as would the persona Ja (Rick Yune) could also be an option.
Series original Kellerman (Paul Adelstein) was spectacularly killed off in the latest episodes, but that hasn’t stopped Adelstein from hinting that the hitman-turned-politician could still resurface in season six.
“I don’t think it’s his final track,” he said. “I am referring to Prison Break. If you’re serious about it how do you truly know whether you should be able to trust what you see?”
He’s not lying He’s not wrong – after all both Michael as well as Sara have successfully recovered from their deaths It’s possible to do anything.
This also means that anyone could disappear at any time.
One character that was not in this season’s revival was former FBI Special Agent Alexander Mahone (William Fichtner) However, could he get some part in the next season?
“Paul is a fan of Bill Fichtner and I love Bill Fichtner,” Robert Knepper told the crowd at 2016’s San Diego Comic-Con. “He’s an incredible actor however, Paul candidly told me”I don’t know what to do with this role’.
“He did not want to return everyone in order to make the viewers think, ‘Oh, look that’s Bill Fichtner” He thought to himself”I don’t know what to do with that in the story’, so should there be a sequel to one day of this, perhaps Bill will return.”
Scheuring himself tweeted later on Twitter that there is ” somewhere between 50 and 150 percent possibility” the Mahone will return to season number six… So, keep your fingers crossed!
Scheuring didn’t have much space for the character of his fans Fernando Sucre in the revival either . He was a key character in only one of the nine episodes. However, that could alter in the future.
“All characters were required to appear natural to the characters and he wasn’t really able to play an actual role, other than the sidekick in Yemen that he did not have the necessary skills to play,” the writer explained.
“So I’d like to see there’d had more Sucre. Sucre would’ve been untruthful to have him in more than that, however should there be another season, there’s probably much more Sucre.”
We like it, Papi.
