I (Randi Naughton) began my broadcasting career listening to the morning announcements on Wilson Central High School in Wilson, New York. I didn’t realize that it could lead to a four-decade career in radio and television.
I began at KTVI with Sunday morning shows that were titled “Randy Round Town” where I would provide reports on community events and festivals that took place in St. Louis.
The year 1994 was when I began doing sports coverage, and was among the few women who were doing this at the time. I spoke with a lot of St. Louis sports legends and Hall of Famer. Musial, Schoendienst, Gibson, Pujols, McGwire, Hull, Gretzky, Warner as well as Bruce just to mention some. The reporting on NFL sideslines, locker room and training camps, as well as Super Bowlsand World Series, and the Stanley Cup Championship. I was awestruck by every moment of it.
For the last 23 years for the past 23 years, I’ve hosted “Waking up Your Day” at FOX 2. News. To help you get up and running or getting your kids ready for the school day. We’ve shared the latest news and severe weather.
I strive to deliver the news in an honest, fair and a way that is relatable. I hope that you felt the same way. I’m leaving my anchor job in the last 30 years. It’s not because of scandal or contract dispute. It’s my decision. My decision my chance to fall asleep into the middle of the evening.
It’s an opportunity for me to explore things that aren’t part of the morning show. A life that for the last 23 years began at the time of 2:00 am, and ended with my bedtime around 7:00 pm.
There are many people to thank for their contribution to the success of this long-running journey of three decades on FOX 2. A former general manager Spencer Koch wanted me to move from his office in the Sports Department to the show on the Morning. I wasn’t interested in doing that, I refused. Evidently, it was the right decision, wasn’t it?Randi Naughton
My co-anchor John Pertzborn. He is my “work spouse,” friend, colleague and best friend. We can literally complete each other’s sentences. Don’t get me wrong. We’ve had some fights over the time. But the partnership simply works. Our popularity as the top one morning program for years confirms that we’ll be friends for life. Yes, we will be eating lunch together.
Thanks to the present Director of Operations Kurt Krueger and News Director Audrey Prwitch. They put their trust in me and my team to produce 6 hours worth of most exciting morning news from St. Louis. I could have been one of the personalities of this station, but it requires a team to accomplish the things we do everyday.Randi Naughton
I’d like thank my sole child, my daughter Alex who was born just after I began my time at KTVI. She’s literally given me a hug. She and her husband Camille have their mama alone. Of course, they will be able the husband I have for over 34 years Brian who is been a sleeper at night and was likely awake the middle of the early morning alarm nearly as much like I was.
Thank you so much for your assistance, the encouragement and love. And obviously, thanks for being patient with me every time mama did not get her afternoon nap We’ll soon spend more time with each other. Maybe going fishing, going out to eat. Let us wish us luck.
