Oooohwee! It’s here! Season 4 of the hit show Rick and Morty is finally come to an end. It’s been two years since the last season and the anticipation for the fresh season remains as intense as ever. Could Mr Poopybutthole really a Morty?
The wait was long and the thing that made it worse was the fact that we were being teased with stills and trailers stuffed with stunning new footage. A lot of beloved characters from the past were revealed to be making an appearance The Meeseeks in the midst of chaos, and Gearhead appeared in a flash. One character that hasn’t been seen in the first two episodes is Mr. Poopybutthole.
It’s hard to not wonder why after four seasons of the show, we haven’t been given a definitive answer what (or what) is Mr. Poopybutthole really is?
In a recent clip, The Film Theorists have come up with the most plausible yet shocking fans theory that could answer the question and season four could have already provided us with the information needed to prove the theory.
What happens if Mr. Poopybutthole could be the real Morty of an alternate world?
To recap, Mr . Poopybutthole was introduced to us in the second season. In the episode “Total Rickall”, the Smith house of the family is attacked by aliens who disguise themselves as family members or friends by implanting positive memories into human.
“Total Rickall” remains an incredibly mind-bending theories of any television show ever created. In addition to the unforgettable characters such as Uncle Steve, Cousin Nicky and Mr. Beauregard as well as Reverse Giraffe the episode introduced our personal Mr. Poopybutthole.
While all the other characters are killed because they become Smiths recognize that the parasites only have positive memories, Poopybutthole has been fooling us all by getting through the bloodshed.
However, the suspicion that the other one could be a parasite has not only implanted in us, but also into the Smiths too. And when Beth shoots her last shot at Mr Poopybutthole’s back to our delight, he does not transform into a leech that is alien, but , instead, is and is injured on the floor.
However, as we bid farewell to Mr Poopybutthole, we also watch his physical therapy, and apologize for his family members Smith family that they did not bringing them any negative memories but the question remains: who is the Mr Poopybutthole? where is he from?
Funny enough, the creator of the show Dan Harmon has given away his own “theory”. In the course of an interview in 2017 with Cinemablend in the year 2017:
“How do you feel about”How about Mr Poopybutthole Just like when there are flies, there are spiders. Wherever the parasites begin to bloom the Mr. Poopybutthole is a distinct species, which is less threatening or perhaps more advanced?
“He lives a life of hermit crabs steal shells from other animals. Perhaps Mr. Poopybutthole profited from the holes you create in your brain and sort of burrows into the pre-existing holes.”
The second season’s first episode when Mr Poopybutthole’s appearance first occurs already proves his memory-manipulation abilities. If you take a closer look at the opening sequence, you will see that Mr Poopybutthole is present every single moment, alongside Rick and Morty in their journeys.
Thus, as Harmon has said, he’s not just creating joyful memories as the other parasites . Mr Poopybutthole appears to possess stronger and more advanced abilities, because he is able to exploit the holes in the Smiths minds – as well as ours as viewers, by introducing himself into the existing memories.
If we look at his actions in the first episode he is in, he is exactly as the other parasites, attempting to stop the Smiths from pursuing their hunt, as well as triggering flashbacks that allow for the introduction of other parasites. The theory of Harmon appears to go beyond an idea.
Unfortunately , we didn’t see much of this man throughout the remainder of the season, but it was a joy to see him back in a web-based special at the close of season three in which we can gain A lot of information about his life through the time to look through his scrapbook. We’ve observed in numerous instances that Mortys are available in a variety of dimensions and shapes (and the species and colors of their shirts) but not all of them resemble our Morty in the universe C-137. The very first episode of season 4 has given us a glimpse of wasp shrimp, wasp and Nazi universes in which Ricks as well as Mortys exist.
In fact, there was an online game for taking all of the Mortys. Also it’s true that each of Morty and Poopybutthole have voices in the voice of Justin Roiland – what more proof do you require?
It’s easy to imagine that somewhere out there there’s a galaxy of Mr. Poopybutthole-like parasites with the form of Morty and possibly Rick. Rick.
It could be that Mr. Poopybutthole’s Rick passed away and was unable to be cloned, as we witnessed in the season 4 premiere.
However, why is any of this important, you may be asking yourself?
The first thing to note is that we doubt that the creators of the show could have brought this seemingly innocent small-sized character in the show a few years ago only to see him appear repeatedly with us giving us more clues about his background and then not doing anything to his character.
In the season four trailer , we discover that Mr. Poopybutthole scheduled to return for the season. It appears that he is on a tenure track and is involved in beating students who are trying to take on him.
Now we know the parasite is a parasite, and that is the kind of Morty and that he’s back. Do we need to be concerned about Mr Poopybutthole? Possibly. We do not know what his plans are in the universe. We’ve already witnessed one Morty get into trouble during the current season. It would not be too difficult for another to make the same mistake.
However, whatever happens now, there’s some explanation to be done.
