Prior to the arrival of season five earlier in the year it was announced that June and her crew will return for the sixth and final season that will hopefully conclude the story of June in a satisfactory manner for fans who have been following her for a long time.
“It was a real honor to tell the tale of Margaret Atwood’s novel and its chillingly relevant world. We’re excited to present viewers with the six-episode finale of The Handmaid’s Tale,” said creator, showrunner, and Executive Producer Bruce Miller in a statement at the time.
“We thank Hulu as well as MGM for letting us share this story, one that was sadly, has been just as relevant throughout its time on the air. We are humbled by our fans for their constant support in which we could have made it to this stage.”
What’s next to come in What’s in store for Handmaid’s Tale season 6 ? Come join us in US as we break down everything you should be aware of The Handmaid’s Tale’s final episode. The Handmaid’s Tale.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 release date: when does it premiere?
The Handmaid’s Tale had a tradition of releasing a new season every year, but the outbreak of the pandemic put the entire schedule out of balance which resulted in a two-year gap between the seasons 3 and 4. Now that production appears to be on the right track it is possible that we will be anticipating a season six release date around the year 2023’s close just one year after season five.
The pressure to make this season flawless as well as the plans to release The Testaments sequel could push the release back to a release date later beginning in 2024.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 cast: Who’s on it?
The Handmaid’s Tale simply wouldn’t be The Handmaid’s Tale without the cast members mentioned above So expect for them to returning in some way for season six:
* Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne
* Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy Waterford
* Madeline Brewer as Janine
* Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia
* O-T Fagbenle as Luke
* Max Minghella as Nick
* Samira Wiley as Moira
* Bradley Whitford as Commander Lawrence
Amanda Brugel as Rita Amanda Brugel as RitaUnfortunately for those who have followed the show for a long time, Alexis Bledel won’t be with any of them in the show’s final episode. After Emily’s time on screen was cut down during season 4, her character was eliminated completely during the season five premiere in which the show revealed she was again to Gilead.
Alexis released an announcement in Entertainment Weekly at the time. She read: “After much thought, I was compelled to end my involvement with The Handmaid’s Tale at the moment. I will forever be humbled for Bruce Miller for writing such authentic and meaningful scenes for Emily and also for the support of Hulu, MGM, the cast and crew for their help.”
There was no explanation for the sudden departure So for the moment we can safely assume Bledel will not return until the show’s end.
I hope that Rita or Moira’s roles could become more prominent. Through the first three seasons they each played an important role in the show, however their roles were drastically diminished during season 5, specifically. It turns out that the reason has to have to do with the Bledel’s exit.During the course of his exclusive interview on US Showrunner Bruce Miller shed some more details about this tragic development: “Honestly, Moira’s story and Rita’s story were connected to Emily’s story, really suffered this season.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 plot: What’s going to transpire?
The fifth season is over, US talked to the show’s director Bruce Miller about his ideas for an eventual conclusion but Bruce insists that outline plans for the initial season will likely change as the story continues.
“We’re going finish it in our own way,” said Miller. “It’s an aspect we’re not able to have to accept just because of how the company is organized. Also, and perhaps more importantly is not something anyone would offer to their customers.
“The book is really frustrating towards the conclusion, because the book ends. Everybody’s saying”How can you, Bruce Miller… What do you think you’re writing than you have ever written?’ I’m like, “Oh my god, that’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted do, compose the remainder.’ It’s like, “What is going on? Oh my God! It’s the most gruesome conclusion.”
