Pelphrey was the new character Ben Davis in Season 3 of Ozark. We first saw him as a substitute teacher. He then got into a fight, and was fired. This episode reveals that Ben is mentally ill and takes medication for his bipolar disorder. He also visits the Ozarks with Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney).
Ben embarks on a journey from there; he is a good man with a moral centre and forms strong bonds with Jonah Byrde. Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) is the first to meet Ben. Ruth becomes his partner after he realizes that he cannot perform sexually due to side effects of his medication.
This leads to a series erratic, poorly-thought-out and inconsistent decisions. Ben does the right thing consistently but fails to consider the implications. He exposes Helen Pierce, the dangerous lawyer for Navarro cartel, in front her daughter and makes a mess of the entire criminal enterprise.
How did Ben die on Ozark?
Wendy takes Ben to a restaurant along the highway and then walks back to her car. The hitman for the cartel appears as she enters the diner. In the next episode, Marty disposes of his body at a crematorium. Ben, your pure spirit was too precious for this world. Pelphrey was a wonderful actor, supporting him throughout the journey.
…. Unless Ben is actually alive. There are theories that Ben wasn’t really killed and that someone is passing off his body to keep the cartel happy. We saw Marty at the crematorium and saw the ashes afterward, but it is worth noting that Ben was never actually killed. He might still be alive. It’s unlikely, but it is something you should keep in mind for the day Ozark really feels like going all Soap Opera.
Tom Pelphrey was a Marvel Villain.
It is a well-known fact that Iron Fist was the weakest Netflix Marvel Universe series. This included Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and The Defenders), but Ward Meachem’s character in the series was one of few redeeming characteristics. Pelphrey portrays him as a corporate-type villain, similar to Robert Redford in Captain America the Winter Soldier or Ben Mendelsohn In The Dark Knight Rises.
His appearances in other projects have been exciting. His character in Banshee is Kurt Bunker. He was once a neo Nazi skinhead. This edgy character shows a bit of his DNA, which eventually transferred to his role as Ben Davis in Ozark.

He also played two characters in Law and Order: SVU. He has worked his way up through the ranks of TV, and appears to be gaining more and larger roles with each passing year.
